TVB is the biggest TV station in Hong Kong. Apart from traditional broadcast via radio signal, they also run a a online platform named MyTV. The platform provides playback services and various channel packs for subscription. The platform was available globally and the team was always looking for innovative ways to boost viewership and watch time.
Bridgespace was appointed to leverage advanced machine learning techniques to uncover insights from the usage data. The team built various models using neural network for analysing the audio, videos and user behaviors. Various suggestions and new improvements was provided to TVB team, including an improvement on TV shows recommendation engine, cover poster generation algorithms as well as user experiences changes.
By implementing the changes, MyTV was able to achieve significant watchtime increase per month. Apart from that, the MyTV team is now able to monitor the platform usage in near-real time via the dashboards and data pipeline that we built for the team, on Google Cloud infrastructure.
